The University Hospital, the area's only Level I trauma center. Referral center for oncology, transplant surgery, and neurosurgery.

- 2x 3T MRI, 2x 1.5T MRI, 0.3T Open MRI - Functional MRI (BrainLab), MR Perfusion, MR Spectroscopy

- Dual Source 64 MDCT, 16 MDCT, 8 MDCT, PET/CT

- Portable Head CT scanner for the Neuro ICU 

- 4 Interventional Radiology suites

- Dedicated 3D imaging lab (Cardiac CT, CT Angiography, CT Perfusion, Virtual colonoscopy & bronchoscopy)

- State-of-the-art McKesson PACS

Rotations

Rotations are 4 week blocks.  Residents receive 4weeks of vacation per year.  If presenting a poster or article at a conference, the conference is counted as additional time off and is paid by the department.

Education

- Mandatory daily conferences noon-1pm and Friday 7-8am with optional 7-8am conferences on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

- Dedicated physics lecture series prior to physics boards.

- Excellent oral board preparatory lectures by faculty.

- Research opportunities are available but are not mandatory.  

 

Call Frequency

University Hospital Call

2 residents in house 9p-8a for 6 days at a time Sun-Fri

PGY-2 (RAD1)    0 weeks night float

PGY-3 (RAD2)    6 weeks night float

PGY-4 (RAD3)    4 weeks night float

PGY-5 (RAD4)    3 weeks night float

Weekend shifts are similarly distributed. There are no 24 hour shifts.

Weekday 5p-9p short shift for ER is covered by a PGY-2 resident under staff supervision.

Cincinnati Children's Call

4 calls for every 4 week rotation (total of 5-6 rotations)

Interventional Radiology Call

2-3 residents per rotation splitting up q2-3 at home call for emergent cases.

Neuroradiology - 3 accredited positions per year

Pediatric Radiology - 7 accredited positions per year

Interventional Radiology - 2 accredited positions per year

Nuclear Medicine - 1 accredited position per year

Breast Imaging - 1 position

Body Imaging - 2 positions
